Dubai Metro

Launched in 09.09.09, the Dubai Metro was built with the people in mind. The airport metro stations were built directly at the “door step” of airport terminals 1 and 3, which allows for a seamless connectivity where passengers can transfer between the airport terminals and the stations comfortably and with ease. To cater to the physically disabled, the stations are built with a barrier free access design.

Each cabin in the train is equipped with a luggage compartment where passengers can stow the luggage while travelling in the metro. Passengers are allowed to carry up to two bags into the trains as long as they do not exceed the allowable size.

The airport metro station are part of the Dubai Metro network and thus they are directly linked to many locations in Dubai. The direct link provides a very convenient and affordable travel experience for the passengers.

Oakland International Airport

In 2010, decades of community meetings and planning culminated when ground was broken at Oakland International Airport (OAK) for the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit’s (BART) newest station fronting OAK’s passenger terminals.  Four years later, on November 22, 2014, the new connector was opened to strong consumer approval, providing quick and seamless, single ticket access to all of BART’s 45 stations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

It was a significant moment in the 87-year history of the airport, and a timely one.  OAK had added 10 new routes in 2014 and passenger traffic increased more than 6 percent to 10.3 million passengers.  That growth has continued into 2015 with at least nine more new routes and airline capacity growth of more than 7 percent expected in the first half of the year.

Replacing an Air BART bus connector often bogged down by street traffic, the new system brought swift, reliable transportation above the congestion every 5 minutes with an on-time performance exceeding 99%.  And while AirBART served 700,000 passengers annually, the new service has the capacity to serve 3 million comfortably.

As of early March 2015, average daily ridership is up 35 percent year-over-year at 2,500.
