A’REX takes over Incheon Airport Maglev operations

SOUTH KOREA: Airport Railroad Corporation (A’REX) has won the tender to operate country’s first 6.1 km urban maglev train shuttle to/from Incheon International Airport.

A’REX took charge of the maglev operations on 1st of July 2016 and will be responsible for operations, maintenance and passenger information until June 2019.

A’REX already operates a dedicated Airport Express train from Incheon Interanational Airport to Seoul Central Station (43 min) as well as a commuter rail service stopping at all stops on the same route (56 min). The railway station is located at the Transportation Centre, a short walk away from the main airport building.

The maglev train started passenger services on 3rd of February 2016 and runs between the airport and the new Yongyu Station in 15 minutes. The new maglev train provides seamless connection with the A’REX train and in the future extend to create a circular line around the airport island.
